A concrete mixer truck is a specialized vehicle designed to transport construction-grade concrete; due to its distinctive shape, it is often referred to as a "snail truck" or "olive truck." These trucks are equipped with a cylindrical mixing drum to carry the mixed concrete.

 

The mixing drum rotates continuously during transport to prevent the concrete from setting. After delivery, the interior of the drum is typically washed with water to prevent residual concrete from hardening and taking up space, which would otherwise reduce the drum's effective capacity.

 

A concrete mixer truck consists of a vehicle chassis and specialized concrete mixing and transport equipment. In my country, the chassis used for these trucks are predominantly "Type II" general-purpose chassis supplied by vehicle manufacturers. Key specialized components include the power take-off (PTO), front and rear drum supports, a speed reducer, a hydraulic system, the mixing drum, control mechanisms, and a cleaning system. The operating principle involves extracting power from the vehicle chassis via the PTO to drive a variable-displacement pump within the hydraulic system; this converts mechanical energy into hydraulic energy, which is transmitted to a fixed-displacement motor. The motor then drives the speed reducer, which in turn operates the mixing mechanism to agitate the concrete.
